§ Mr. Alfred Morrisasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is satisfied that the requirements of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act are being met in the London borough of Croydon; what consideration he is giving, in this context, to the higher charges imposed by the council for home helps and to the proposals for further increasing the price of meals on wheels, for making the disabled pay for their bus permits and for charging elderly and disabled people for interviews with social workers; whether the higher charges for home helps are being imposed on disabled people in the borough who are in receipt of supplementary benefit; and, if so, whether any disabled person has had to cancel a home help, or has had the service withdrawn through inability to pay.
§ Mr. Rossi:My right hon. Friend has received no representations that the London borough of Croydon is not meeting the requirements of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act. As the right hon. Member knows, local authorities have power to recover charges for services provided under Section 2 of that Act. I regret that information about the provision of service in individual cases is not held centrally.
