Mr. Proctor

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many houses and flats were sold by the Basildon development corporation, the Basildon district council and the London borough of Waltham Forest Council to sitting tenants in the Basildon constituency between May 1979 and September 1981.

Sir George Young:

Sales by the Basildon district council and Basildon Development Corporation in the period April 1979 to June 1981 totalled 2,381; 1,864 by Basildon Development Corporation and 517 by the district council; almost all of these would have been to sitting tenants. Information is not available to the Department on the number of sales by the London borough of Waltham Forest of its properties within the Basildon constituency.
