HC Deb 27 October 1981 vol 10 c330W
14. Mr. Dykes

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will estimate the number of children who are staying on for sixth form type education in secondary age schools because of the high rate of unemployment.

Sir Keith Joseph:

The number of children staying on for sixth form education in England this September is not yet known. But it seems that in many areas, particularly of high unemployment, there has been an increase in the proportion of the age group staying on.
