HC Deb 27 October 1981 vol 10 c321W
Mr. Alexander

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the estimated number of this summer's school leavers who will be employed on a Manpower Services Commission job opportunity scheme at the end of the year.

Mr. Alison:

Estimates are not available in the precise form required. However, between April 1981 and March 1982, the Manpower Services Commission expects around 360,000 unemployed 1981 school leavers to take part in youth opportunities programme schemes—about half of all the current year's school leavers estimated to have left school for work.
