HC Deb 27 October 1981 vol 10 c331W
21. Mrs. Renèe Short

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he is satisfied with the number of 16-year-olds who have decided to continue full-time education.

Mr. William Shelton:

My right hon. Friend is pleased by recent indications of an increase in the staying on rate among 16-year-olds, but he will not be wholly satisfied until we have achieved a much larger participation by our young people in education of suitable type and quality.
