HC Deb 27 October 1981 vol 10 cc315-6W
Mr. Steen

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how much the three-year study to monitor the progress of enterprise zones will cost.

Mr. King:

The three-year contract will cost a total of £273,130, excluding VAT.

Mr. Steen

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many statistical returns will be asked for from firms in enterprise zones; and how this figure compares with firms outside the zones.

Mr. King:

The only Government statistical inquiry that will go to firms in enterprise zones will be the census of employment. In addition, some firms will be surveyed each year as part of the study monitoring EZs. By comparison, in 1980 there were about 30 regular Government statistical service returns which firms nationally might have received depending on whether or not they fell within the samples.
