HC Deb 26 October 1981 vol 10 cc241-2W

Mr. Molyneaux asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland when he expects to announce the appointment of the chief executive of the Industrial Development Board and make known the composition of that board; and when he intends to bring forward the relevant legislation.

Mr. Adam Butler:

The procedure for the selection of the chief executive for the Industrial Development Board for Northern Ireland is well under way; the first of the advertisements seeking applications for the post appeared in the national press on 22 October 1981. It is hoped that an appointment can be announced about the end of the year. It is intended that appointments to the board will not be made until after the chief executive is appointed. Preparation of legislation for the Industrial Development Board is under way with the intention of publishing a proposal for a draft order early next year.
