Mr. Chapman asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will give the total amount collected in general rates in the Greater London area in respect of each of the Inland Revenue's categories of hereditament for the years 1979–80 and 1980–81 and the latest estimate for 1981–82.

Mr. Chapman asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will give the total amount of rate rebates allowed in respect of domestic ratepayers in the Greater London area in 1979–80 and 1980–81 and the latest estimate for 1981–82.

Mr. King:

The amount of rate rebates paid in the Greater London area in 1979–80 was £27.5 million. The provisional estimate for 1980–81 is £38.8 million. No estimate is yet available for 1981–82.

Mr. Chapman asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will give the total amount of the domestic element of rate support grant in respect of the Greater London area in the years 1979–80, 1980–81 and 1981–82.
