HC Deb 23 October 1981 vol 10 c211W

Mr. Knox asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many craft apprentices who have completed training courses at technical college are still seeking employment.

Mr. Peter Morrison:

There are no comprehensive figures of the number of such apprentices still seeking employment. The vast majority of apprentices are in employment from the outset of their training and continue in the same employment after completion of any technical college course. Grants are made available through appropriate training bodies for apprentices failing to find a job on completion of sponsored training, or on becoming redundant during training, to enable training to continue until employers are found.
