§ Mr. Alton asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement on the reorganisation of the Liverpool area health authority.
§ Dr. Vaughan:As announced on 25 September, there will be a single health authority for the whole of the city of Liverpool. However, in order to provide stronger and more localised management, the authority will have management support from two geographically based management teams. This arrangement will be unique in the country and is designed to meet the special needs of Liverpool.
