Mrs. Renéee Short asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the latest unemployment number and rate amongst males and females in Wolverhampton; and how this compares with May 1979.

Mr. Peter Morrison [pursuant to his reply, 20 October 1981]: The following is the information for the Wolverhampton travel-to-work area. the figures include school leavers and are not seasonally adjusted.

Mrs. Renéee Short asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list the industries in (a) Wolverhampton and (b) the West Midlands in which there have been increases in unemployment since May 1979; and if he will give the percentage increase.

Mr. Peter Morrison [pursuant to his reply, 20 October 1981]: The following table gives the percentage increases between May 1979 and August 1981 in the numbers registered as unemployed in the West Midlands region. The figures are analysed according to the industry orders of the standard industrial classification in which the unemployed person last worked. Similar information for Wolverhampton could be provided only at disproportionate cost.
