asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is satisfied with the time delays in new drug assessment by the Committee on Safety of Medicines.

Dr. Vaughan:

I am satisfied that the time taken by the Committee on Safety of Medicines to offer its advice to the licensing authority on product licence applications for new drugs is reasonable.
