§ Mr. Norman Lamont:The following table gives throughput per employee figures for British Shipbuilders' merchant yards. Information about throughput per employee at individual British Shipbuilders' yards is commercially confidential. Comparable information about overseas yards is not available. Throughput per man figures are affected both by changes in productivity and changes in the industry's work load and, during the period covered by the table, the loading of British Shipbuilders' yards has been affected by the shipbuilding recession.
