HC Deb 19 October 1981 vol 10 c25W
Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many suicides have occurred so far in 1981 in each prison department establishment.

Mr. Mayhew:

There have been five deaths in prison department establishments so far in 1981 where the inquest has recorded a verdict of suicide. These occurred in Brixton—one—Long Lartin—one—Manchester—one—and Wakefield—two. There have been some deaths on which an inquest has not yet been held.
