Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will give for the longest and most convenient stated period of time (a) the number of complaints made against the police, (b) the number of those investigated by the police, (c) the number that were found to be justified and unjustified, respectively; and, in the former case, what action was taken against those concerned.

Information about complaints made against the police and their outcome is contained in the annual reports of Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Constabulary and the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis. The reports are available in the Library of the House.
