HC Deb 19 October 1981 vol 10 c53W
Mr. Gordon Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make extra funds available to Tayside health board in order to enable it to move towards the target figures for staffing of the health education unit as specified by his Department.

Mr. Allan Stewart:

No. My Department in 1974 drew the attention of health boards to suggestions about levels of staffing in health education made by a consultative committee of medical officers of health, but have not themselves specified staffing levels. It is for health boards, in the light of local requirements and such central guidance as may be available, to decide how the funds available to them should be allocated to all the various services for which they are responsible.
