asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is his estimate of the level of the air pollutants smoke and sulphur dioxide in Dundee; and how these compare with (a) Glasgow and (b) Scotland.

The following table, based on measurements at 5 sampling stations in Dundee, 24 in Glasgow and 101 in Scotland, gives estimates of the winter monthly average concentrations of smoke and sulphur dioxide in Dundee, Glasgow and Scotland for the winter period October 1979-March 1980, the latest dates for which data is available.
