§ 62. Mr. Boothasked the Secretary of State for Employment what leakages of radioactive iodine have been reported to the Health and Safety Inspectorate under regulation 7 of the Ionising Radiations (Unsealed) Regulations during the last six months.
§ Mr. WaddingtonNone. One case of a release of radioactive iodine, from the British Nuclear Fuels Limited site at Sellafield, Cumbria, was reported to the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate of the Health and Safety Executive on 6 October 1981 under separate arrangements which exist for the notification of incidents at nuclear installations. The circumstances of this release were described by my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State for Energy in reply to the hon. Member for Whitehaven (Dr. Cunningham) on 19 October—[Vol. 10 c.80–81].
