§ Mr. O'Halloranasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science, in view of the fact that the 291W National Association of Schoolmasters and the Union of Women Teachers has nearly 2,000 members in full-time and some 12,000 members in part-time employment in the further education field, whether he will grant that association representation on the Burnham further education committee.
§ Sir Keith JosephI discussed the association's case for representation on the Burnham further education committee with its general secretary on 16 November. I am today writing to him to say that I do not propose to add the National Association of Schoolmasters/Union of Women Teachers to the bodies represented on the committee.

Friend has received 136 letters from or on behalf of the National Association of Schoolmasters/Union of Women Teachers in support of that association's application for membership of the Burnham further education committee. In addition, he has received representations from five bodies opposed to such an addition to the teachers' side of the committee.
