231WFurther to my letter of 20 October about the costs of reducing minimum pension age for men, a re-examination of the effects of change on taxation has resulted in marginal changes to those estimates which I then provided. I therefore attach a revised note which incorporates these changes and also provides more information on the estimated effects of variant assumptions on the question of job replacement. These revised estimates accord with those which the Department has submitted in evidence to the Social Services Select Committee for the Committee's study of pension age.Following are the notes:
