HL Deb 18 November 1981 vol 425 cc561-2WA
Baroness Wootton of Abinger

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How much additional revenue would be raised if the rates of income tax on personal incomes of (a) over £10,000 per annum and (b) over £20,000 were restored to the level at which they stood before the changes introduced by the Budget of June 1979.

Lord Cockfield

The answer would depend on what assumptions are made about a range of other matters such as the level of the personal allowances, the basic rate of tax and the higher rate bands.

House adjourned at nineteen minutes before seven o'clock.
