HC Deb 17 November 1981 vol 13 c101W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) if he is satisfied that the new non-sectarian Lagan college in Belfast has adequate financial support to become a viable institution; and if he will make a statement.

(2) when the Government intend to give financial support to the new non-sectarian Lagan college in Belfast; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Scott

Lagan college has been established as an independent school, not as a grant-aided school, and the question of financial support from public funds does not, therefore, arise. Whether or not the school has adequate financial support to become a viable institution is a matter for the founders, the All Children Together Charitable Trust.
