HC Deb 17 November 1981 vol 13 c94W
Mr. Ennals

asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether it is his intention to abolish most of the industrial training boards; if he intends to impose on industry a general training levy and if so, at what costs to industry; and what institution he would propose to use to administer the levy.

Mr. Peter Morrison

I refer the right hon. Member to the statement made on 16 November by my right hon. Friend about industrial training boards.—[Vol. 13. c.30.] Questions about the funding of training are being considered urgently in the framework of the "New Training Initiative" and we are aiming to issue a statement by the turn of the year.

Mr. Ennals

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if, in his review of the functions of industrial training boards, he will ensure the continuation of the footwear, leather and fur skin industry training board; and if he will take into consideration the possibility of combining the board with the clothing and allied products industrial training board.

Mr. Peter Morrison

I shall reply to the right hon. Member as soon as possible.
