§ Mr. Lathamasked the Secretary of State for Transport whether he is now able to announce a specific date for the public inquiry into the proposed Melton Mowbray inner relief road.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeNo. The objection period for the side roads order expired on 9 November and for the compulsory purchase order on 26 October. There are a large number of objections to the orders. A public inquiry will obviously be necessary unless the Leicestershire county council decides to withdraw the proposals. A public inquiry will take a little time to arrange and will also consider on behalf of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment any objections there may be to the listed building demolitions and public open space certificate which are also involved.
