HC Deb 12 November 1981 vol 12 cc124-5W
Mr. Temple-Morris

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many people have been disqualified from driving within the Metropolitan Police area for whatever period in each of the last three years for which figures are available.

Mr. Mayhew

Information is not readily available for individual police force areas and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.

Mr. Temple-Morris

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many people have been disqualified from driving in England and Wales for whatever period in each of the last three years for which figures are available.

Mr. Mayhew

Information on the number of people disqualified from driving could be provided only at disproportionate cost. Numbers of offences which led to disqualification being imposed by the courts, by period of disqualification, are published annually in "Offences relating to Motor Vehicles, England and Wales"—Tables 11 and 12 of the volume for 1978, Cmnd. 7687, and 1979, Cmnd. 8087, and of the supplementary tables for 1980, a copy of which will shortly be placed in the Library of the House.
