HC Deb 11 November 1981 vol 12 c116W
Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is his estimate of the number of young children in Scotland who would benefit from being fitted with a myoelectric hand; and if he will make sufficient funds available to provide such devices.

Mr. Allan Stewart

Information about young children who might benefit from the fitting of a myoelectric hand is not held by my Department. In the two and a half years since the trial of the Swedish myoelectric hand started, however, 10 children between 3 and 4 years old have been identified by consultants as being within the eligible category. The cost of the hands is not expected to be a problem.
