§ Mr. Ernie Rossasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is his estimate of the number of young children in Scotland who would benefit from being fitted with a myoelectric hand; and if he will make sufficient funds available to provide such devices.
§ Mr. Allan StewartInformation about young children who might benefit from the fitting of a myoelectric hand is not held by my Department. In the two and a half years since the trial of the Swedish myoelectric hand started, however, 10 children between 3 and 4 years old have been identified by consultants as being within the eligible category. The cost of the hands is not expected to be a problem.
