Member for Brent, East (Mr. Freeson) on 30 April, if he is satisfied that the statement made by Mr. Arafat in 1978 to Congressman Findley still represents the policy of the Palestine Liberation Organisation on the question of recognition of the State of Israel.
§ Sir Ian GilmourYasser Arafat's statement to Congressman Findley in 1978 was an encouraging sign of PLO willingness to live in peace with Israel, but there have been other, less encouraging statements in the opposite sense. We shall continue to urge the PLO to accept publicly Israel's right to exist.
