The following table gives for these months in 1979 and 1980 the numbers of unemployed people registered at employment offices in the areas specified for employment as medical practictioners.

§ Mr. Peter MorrisonUp to 21 November 1980 support was given for a maximum of six months. Since that date the period has been extended to nine months. Some employers leave the scheme before the end of the six or nine months and they do not always tell the Department that they no longer intend to claim. It is impossible therefore to give the figures exactly as requested. However, the following table shows the number of applications approved each month for the past 12 months and the number of potentially redundant jobs included in these applications:
