HL Deb 04 March 1981 vol 417 cc1496-7WA
Lord Kilmany

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, in view of the fact that the National Coal Board's policy on closing pits has been reversed, they can now give an assurance that the Vale of Belvoir will not be allowed to suffer threat of desecration.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of the Environment (Lord Bellwin)

My right honourable the Secretary of State for the Environment is still considering the report of the inspector who held the public local inquiry into the National Coal Board's planning application to mine coal in the Vale of Belvoir. He will give his decision as soon as possible.
