HL Deb 04 March 1981 vol 417 cc1497-8WA
Lord Brockway

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the statement by the British delegate at the United Nations Committee on Disarmament at Geneva that Britain has no plans to acquire a capability to conduct offensive chemical warfare at any level and is firmly committed to seeking a verifiable arms control agreement banning chemical weapons represents Government policy.

The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (Lord Carrington)

Yes, this remains the Government's policy. Copies of the ambassador's speech have been placed in the Libraries of both Houses.

House adjourned at one minute before eleven o'clock.
