§ Mr. Stan Thorneasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he is satisfied that there are adequate statutory safeguards to ensure that genetic engineering experiments are not conducted, and cannot be conducted, on patients in the United Kingdom.
§ Dr. VaughanExperiments in genetic engineering are carried out on micro-organisms and there appears to be no prospect in the foreseeable future of work of this sort being carried out on higher organisms. I am satisfied that there is adequate provision for monitoring the genetic engineering work that is being carried out in this country.
