Mr. Peter Morrison

[pursuant to his reply, 16 June 1981, c.257–58]: The information requested is as follows: Total amount paid out in redundancy payments and associated benefits — £1,129,997. Average per employee — £5,330. Range of payments — £70 to £38,513.

These amounts exclude any redundancy payments made by the Manpower Services Commission, whose staff are civil servants.

Payments made to civil servants on compulsory premature retirement may include redundancy but it is not possible to identify these in the form requested except at disproportionate cost.
