§ Mr. Humphrey AtkinsI am satisfied that the briefing of the media by my Department has led to a greater understanding of the Government's policy in relation to hunger strikes in the Maze prison. The majority of editorial opinion is in support of the Government's refusal to grant political status to convicted criminals.
