HC Deb 17 June 1981 vol 6 c370W
9. Mr. Sproat

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement about the latest state of the Scottish fishing industry.

Mr. Younger

The negotiation of a satisfactory common fisheries policy settlement is still our main priority. The industry in Scotland is, however, meantime benefiting from its share of the £25 million temporary aid scheme which was recently announced. The fall in the value of sterling should also help to improve the market for home-caught supplies because of its effect on imports.
