HC Deb 17 June 1981 vol 6 cc372-3W
27. Mr. Maclennan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland in which financial year he intends to begin the construction of the Dornoch Firth crossing; and what other improvements to the A9 within Caithness and Sutherland will have been completed by that date.

Mr. Rifkind

In present circumstances, the scheme could begin no earlier than the financial year 1985–86, but no commitment is possible at this stage. My Department is keeping a careful watch on the problem at Dunbeath and in addition has a number of schemes for A9 in its preparation pool.
