§ 28. Mr. McNallyasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what consultations have taken place concerning the future of secondary schools in the metropolitan borough of Stockport.
§ Dr. BoysonIt is for the Stockport local education authority to decide the future pattern it wishes to adopt for the secondary schools in its area, and if necessary, to publish proposals under sections 12 to 16 of the Education Act 1980. While the Department's circular 2/80 states that my right hon. and learned Friend regards it as very important that there should be appropriate consultation with local people before proposals are published, he does not obtain details of such consultations until the proposals have been published and submitted to him.
