Mr. Stanbrook

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will publish the list of types of employment abroad which he intends to propose as designated service for the purpose of clause 2(3) of the British Nationality Bill whereby the children born abroad of a British parent engaging in such service abroad will be deemed to be British citizens by birth.

As I indicated to Standing Committee F on 5 March 1981, c. 442, we currently envisage that the following types of employment would be so designatedEmployment with the British Council; Service with international organisations by Crown servants seconded to such bodies in the course of their careers; Service with Her Majesty's Overseas Civil Service.
