§ Dr. Vaughan[pursuant to his reply, 9 June 1981, c. 72]: Information relating to applications for licences for medicinal products must remain confidential for commercial reasons.
The Department is not aware of any clinical trials with Depo Provera in the United Kingdom at present. It is, however, already licensed for the treatment of endomentriosis and as a contraceptive for short term use in certain cases. Doctors are, therefore, free to prescribe it for the treatment of other conditions if in their professional judgment they consider such action to be in the interests of individual patients.
