§ Mr. Teddy Taylorasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is now in a position to publish the provisional numbers of serious crimes involving the use of firearms made known to the police in 1980; and if he will also publish a table showing the comparable totals for each of the previous 20 years.
§ Mr. Mayhew[pursuant to his reply, 8 June 1981, c. 14]: Numbers of serious offences recorded by the police in which firearms were reported to have been used in 1980 will be published in "Criminal Statistics, England and Wales", later this year. Figures for the years 1969–79 are published in table 3.1 of the volume for 1979 (Cmnd. 8098). Comparable figures are not available for years before 1969.
