§ Mr. Colvinasked the Secretary of State for Employment when he plans to introduce a new dock work scheme as recommended by the Dock Work Regulation Act 1976.
§ Mr. WaddingtonThe Act requires my right hon. Friend to bring forward in draft a new dock labour scheme "as soon as may be", but the approval of both Houses of Parliament is needed before such a scheme can be brought 231W into effect. Since taking office we have undertaken extensive consultations with those concerned, both inside and outside the ports industry, to see what degree of support might be achieved for a draft new scheme. I am currently considering the views expressed in the course of those consultations.
