HC Deb 11 June 1981 vol 6 c177W
Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what has caused the delay in verifying the national insurance contribution record of Mr. B. Jones of 188 Brookhey Drive, Kirkby, on which his Department began an investigation on 30 December 1980; and whether, in view of the fact that Mr. Jones has received no benefit, and cannot do so until the investigation is completed, he will expedite matters.

Mrs. Chalker

I understand that a payment in respect of basic benefit entitlement was made on 6 June; the Department is continuing urgently with inquiries to establish whether or not there is an entitlement above the amount already paid. I shall write to the hon. Member as soon as I am able about the reasons for delay in this matter.
