§ Mr. Pawseyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services, pursuant to his reply to the hon. Member for Essex, South-East (Sir B. Braine) on 21 May, Official Report, c. 157–58, if he is satisfied that the funding of the contraceptive teaching pack for distribution in schools is a proper use of the funds of his Department; what support his Department has given to the scheme; whether the pack has been seen or approved by his Department; and if he will make a statement.
§ Dr. VaughanI understand that the Brook Advisory Centres' contraception teaching pack is not distributed generally; if schools wish to use it they have to purchase it. I am currently considering with my noble Friend the Minister of State, Department of Education and Science, whether their present grant should be renewed and this consideration has included discussion of the contraceptive teaching pack. I shall make a statement when a decision has been reached.
