HL Deb 09 June 1981 vol 421 c212WA
Lord Brockway

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What conclusions were reached at the international conference on sanctions against South Africa (held at UNESCO House, Paris, from 20th to 27th May) authorised by United Nations General Assembly resolutions on 12th and 16th December 1980; which Member States of the United Nations were represented; whether the United Kingdom was represented; and, if so, what contribution its delegation made to the declaration of the conference.

Lord Carrington

The United Kingdom was not officially represented at the conference and played no part in drafting any of its documents, which I understand, call for an extensive programme of sanctions against South Africa. We are not in a position to provide a comprehensive list of Governments which attended.
