asked the Secretary of State for Industry what redundancy payments were made to Mr. Ian Halliday, the former chief executive of the National Enterprise Board; how long he held his appointment; and what his annual salary was.

Mr. Halliday served as chief executive of the NEB from 1 February 1980 to 2 December 1980. His annual salary was £33,500 on appointment and was increased to £35,000 from 1 April 1980. As indicated in the NEB's annual report and accounts 1980, the board made a payment of £50,000 to Mr. Halliday following his resignation.
