Mr. Jim Callaghanasked the Secretary of State for Industry what discussions have taken place within the European Community upon the development of a Community policy for industrial change and the resources to be applied to it; and what were the conclusions.
§ Mr. MacGregorTwo informal meetings of Community Industry Ministers have been held to discuss the problems of industrial change. Both promoted a greater understanding of the adjustment problems facing Europe's industries and the Commission has been invited to make proposals on the basis of those discussions. Her Majesty's Government hope that these proposals will be both practical and realistic and take full account of the member States' contributions.
