HC Deb 09 June 1981 vol 6 c59W
Mr. Colvin

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what is his Department's policy regarding bilateral agreements between the United Kingdom and other individual countries on industrial co-operation, particularly in advanced technical fields like nuclear energy, petroleum development, munitions and aircraft; and if any such agreements have been entered into with Japan.

Mr. Parkinson

Existing agreements are being observed but no new ones entered into unless they can be expected to bring very specific advantages to the United Kingdom. My hon. Friend the Minister for Industry and Information Technology announced on 23 April agreement to promote co-operation with Japan in various industrial fields including high technology.
