HC Deb 08 June 1981 vol 6 cc7-8W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what studies he has set up to investigate the long-term changes to the economic prospects of Gwynedd in relation to other parts of the United Kingdom, in consequence of the letter of 6 March 1981 sent to his Department by the chief executive of Gwynedd county council.

Mr. MacGregor

No specific studies at this time. The letter in question sought confirmation that those parts of Gwynedd which became development areas in August 1980 should be included in the promised review of those areas being downgraded by more than one step and becoming non-assisted in August 1982. I was not able to give that confirmation, but gave the answer that the Government will continue to watch the position carefully in Gwynedd as elsewhere.
