HC Deb 08 June 1981 vol 6 c7W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Industry from whom he has received representations during the past six months concerning the need to restore to the Arfon and Dwyfor areas special development area status; and what consideration he is now giving to this matter.

Mr. MacGregor

During the past six months my right hon. Friend has received representations about the assisted area status of the Arfon and Dwyfor area from Gwynedd county council, three town councils, nine community councils and Ymgyrch Gwaith Arfon A Dwyfor. In reply to these representations the Government said they were satisfied that the needs of the area were properly recognised by its designation as a development area but that they would continue to keep a close watch on the situation there, as elsewhere. This remains the position.
