HC Deb 31 July 1981 vol 9 c576W
Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what are (a) the current volumes of uranium oxide imports into the United Kingdom, (b) the current consumption of uranium oxide, (c) the source countries of uranium oxide and (d) in percentage terms, how much each country supplies.

Mr. Norman Lamont

Information on current volumes of uranium oxide imports into the United Kingdom is not available, as uranium oxides are not separately identified in the Overseas Trade Statistics. Uranium requirements for United Kingdom nuclear power stations, currently about 1500tU per annum, are at present met by imports from Canada and Namibia. The details of the uranium supply contracts are commercially confidential to the organisations concerned.
