HC Deb 31 July 1981 vol 9 c542W
Dr. Edmund Marshall

asked the Secretary of State for Defence on how many occasions during the last 12 months Royal Air Force Lindholme has been used as a landing-ground.

Mr. Goodhart

During the 12-month period 1 July 1980 to 30 June 1981, there were 7,480 movements of powered aircraft at RAF Lindholme. The station was also used by conventional gliders of No. 643 gliding school during the period but movement figures for these are not available.

Dr. Edmund Marshall

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the future of the buildings at Royal Air Force Lindholme other than the married quarters and those which are currently in operational use.

Mr. Goodhart

The RAF has no further requirement for the main Lindholme estate and airfield. Provided no other Service use is established, they will be passed to the Property Services Agency for disposal. It is, however, planned to establish a new communications centre at Lindholme in the main buildings of the former radar site, which is separate from the main Lindholme estate.
